On an all too brief holiday in Wattle Point (Victoria, Australia), the wildlife literally came to us. The great thing about living in Australia is the abundance of accessible wildlife that we can interact with. Holiday resorts that encourage the correct and safe way of spending time with these beautiful animals are one of my favourite ways of spending a vacation. |

All I need is a camera and sketch book with a place to sit. The kangaroos came to me with their babies in tow and the results have been some fantastic material for paintings and drawings. |

Roo! is a portrait of one of the very friendly female kangaroos who came close enough for me to feed and pet. She was a lovely gentle creature and I hope this comes out in the painting. |

One of the fun bits of this particular piece is a different approach I have used. The viewer may notice that her ears appear to be chopped of on the sides of the painting. They actually run around the sides of the canvas, so to fully appreciate this painting, you really need to see it in person to be able to see the entire subject from every angle. |
