Pastel painting of paddocks in the North Pearcedale area on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. The scene is taken from recent photos done on a "research walk" around the area. The artwork shows local paddocks as they change colour during the early weeks of autumn. |

It pays to walk at different times of the day, this is how I noticed the light over these paddocks. The sun was still low in the sky throwing shadows across the gully and behind the trees. The property is a fairly large one with various grasses that thrive at different times of the year, giving great texture for a painting. |

The paddocks can be quite interesting at the end of summer when some of the grasses are dieing off and others are greening up from the first autumn rains. This is my first chance to catch them in the early morning and do an artwork showing off how lovely they can be. |

This scene is done in pastel as I thought the medium would show up the varying colours of this changing scenery nicely and it also has a different finish to oils or water colours. |
