Stony Point was a favourite painting spot for many Australian artists in the past. What looks like at first inspection, a rather ordinary spot. However, on closer investigation, holds an amazing array of colour and life. From the sunrise each morning to the sunset each evening, the views across Westernport Bay and the wetlands in the area hold colours that change very quickly, challenging the artist to capture them. |

The joy in painting plein air, is placing several boards on the easel and quickly painting the scene as the light changes during the day. As the tide goes in and out revealing the marshes, the wildlife moves about with the water's edge creating many choices and challenges for the 9 by 5 painter. |
